Summary
We continue with our verse by verse teaching through the book of Romans on Sunday mornings with Pastor Gino Geraci. This week we look at Romans 4:13-16 in “Justification Apart From The Law.”
- Paul’s Plain Statement (v.13)
- Paul’s Argument Against The Law (vv.14-15)
- Paul’s Argument For Faith (v.16)
Paul wants the reader to understand that there is a right way to come to God and be accepted by God and there is a wrong way to come to God.
The right way results in acceptance and the wrong way results in rejection! And that is when the reader bristles!
The observant Jew was convinced that religious ritual and observance of the law must play some role in God’s mind why else would he give the ritual or the law?
The moral Gentile was convinced that baptism and virtue must play some role in being accepted by God otherwise why would Jesus command baptism and virtue?
Can a person work his way to heaven?
